Subhadra Yojana is the Odisha government’s biggest scheme for women. Eligible women get ₹10,000 every year for five years — ₹50,000 in all — paid straight into their own bank account. With the fifth instalment released on 28 August 2026, many families are now asking the same questions: Who is eligible? Can a new applicant still join? How do I check my status, and what should I do if the money has not come?
This guide answers all of these in simple steps, using the official Subhadra portal and Women and Child Development (WCD) Department information as of October 2026.
Quick Answer
- Who: Odisha women aged 21 to below 60 from NFSA/SFSS ration card families, or from families with annual income up to ₹2.5 lakh.
- Benefit: ₹10,000 a year in two instalments of ₹5,000 (Rakhi Purnima and 8 March), for five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29.
- Where: Apply and check status on the official portal subhadra.odisha.gov.in or at an Ama Seva Kendra (ASK) / Common Service Centre (CSC). Helpline: 14678.
- Keep ready: Your Aadhaar number, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and a bank account in your own name that is Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled.
- 2026 status: The new-application window for 2026-27 ran from 1 to 30 April 2026. If you applied earlier, you do not need to apply again.
What Is Subhadra Yojana?
Subhadra is the flagship women’s scheme of the Government of Odisha, run by the Women and Child Development Department. Its aim is to give women direct financial support so they become more financially independent, take part in household decisions and start or grow economic activities.
The money is sent by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the woman’s own Aadhaar-seeded bank account. According to the WCD Department, more than 1 crore women have received assistance since the scheme began, and the scheme runs in all 30 districts of Odisha.
Who Is Eligible for Subhadra Yojana?
As per the eligibility criteria on the official Subhadra portal, a woman must meet all of these conditions:
- She is a resident of Odisha.
- Her family is covered under NFSA or SFSS (the two ration card schemes in Odisha). A woman from a family without an NFSA/SFSS card can also apply if the family’s annual income is not more than ₹2.5 lakh.
- She is 21 years or older and below 60 years on the cut-off date. For 2026-27 the cut-off date is 1 April 2026, so her date of birth must be between 2 April 1966 and 1 April 2005. The date of birth on Aadhaar is used to calculate age.
A woman who turns 21 later can join for the remaining years of the scheme. A woman who completes 60 stops getting assistance for the remaining years.
Who Is Not Eligible?
Even if she meets the conditions above, a woman cannot get Subhadra if:
- She already receives ₹1,500 or more per month (or ₹18,000 or more per year) from any state or central government scheme, such as a pension or scholarship.
- She or a member of her family is a current or former MP or MLA, or an elected representative of an urban local body or Panchayati Raj institution (ward members and councillors are allowed).
- She or a family member pays income tax.
- She or a family member is a regular, permanent or contractual employee (or a pensioner) of the central or state government, or of a government undertaking, board or local body. Workers paid an honorarium and workers engaged through outsourcing agencies can still be eligible.
- She or a family member is a nominated representative of a government department, undertaking or board.
- The family owns a four-wheeler (tractors, mini-trucks, small commercial vehicles and similar light goods vehicles are exempt).
- The family owns more than 5 acres of irrigated land or more than 10 acres of non-irrigated land.
Note: For Subhadra, “family” means the family as defined under NFSA/SFSS, that is, the members on the ration card.

Documents and Details Required
The official FAQ lists only two things as required to apply: your Aadhaar number and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. In practice, also make sure that:
- The Aadhaar card is in your own name, and the details on it (name, date of birth) are correct. If the form and Aadhaar do not match, the Aadhaar details are treated as final.
- You have a single-holder bank account (not a joint account) in your own name that is Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled.
- You keep your ration card number handy if your family has an NFSA/SFSS card.
- If your family has no NFSA/SFSS card, keep proof of family income handy in case the centre or verifying officer asks for it. An Odisha income certificate is the usual proof.
Our tip: Most payment problems come from the bank account, not the application. Before you apply, visit your bank and confirm that Aadhaar seeding and DBT (NPCI mapping) are active on your account.
How to Apply for Subhadra Yojana
The government opens a window for new applications. For 2026-27, applications were accepted from 1 April to 30 April 2026 through the Subhadra portal, and only women who had never applied before could apply. That window is now closed. Keep checking the official portal and local Anganwadi centre for the next window. The steps below are the official process:
- Collect the printed application form free of cost from your nearest Anganwadi centre or the CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) office.
- Fill in the form carefully, exactly as per your Aadhaar.
- Submit the form at your nearest Ama Seva Kendra (ASK) or Common Service Centre (CSC). The operator enters your details on the Subhadra portal online.
- Complete e-KYC. Face authentication through the Subhadra mobile app is the preferred method; biometric e-KYC is also available at the ASK/CSC.
- Give the self-declaration that you meet the eligibility rules, and keep the acknowledgement or application number safe.
- Your application is then checked against government databases and, where needed, by field verification.
Applying is free. Do not pay anyone who promises to “get your Subhadra approved”.
How to Check Subhadra Application and Beneficiary Status
- Open the official portal subhadra.odisha.gov.in.
- Click Application Status (ଆବେଦନ ସ୍ଥିତି) at the top.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, tick the consent box for Aadhaar OTP authentication and click Login.
- Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number to see whether your application is approved, pending or rejected.
The status appears on the portal 24 hours after the application is submitted. The portal also publishes a Beneficiary List and a list of beneficiaries whose bank account needs activation or updating — check both if your money has not arrived.
Subhadra Instalment Not Received? Common Reasons and Fixes
| Problem | What to do |
| Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded or not DBT-enabled | Visit your bank branch, seed Aadhaar and activate DBT (NPCI mapping) on the account. Check the portal’s bank account activation/update list. |
| Bank account inactive or dormant | Reactivate the account at your bank. The official FAQ says an inactive account must be reactivated to receive the money. |
| Joint account given | Open or give a single-holder account in your own name. |
| e-KYC not completed | Complete e-KYC through the Subhadra app (face authentication) or at an ASK/CSC. |
| Aadhaar details do not match | Correct your Aadhaar details first; Aadhaar data is treated as final. |
| Application rejected | Check the reason on the status page and raise a grievance on the portal if you think it is wrong. |
| You crossed age 60 or now get another benefit of ₹1,500+/month | You may no longer be eligible under the scheme rules. |
Subhadra Grievance and Helpline
If your application or payment has a problem, you can file a complaint through the Grievance section of the Subhadra portal, including against a decision on your application. You can also call the Subhadra helpline 14678. Women who find the process difficult can get help at an Ama Seva Kendra, CSC or Anganwadi centre.
Some women have chosen to leave the scheme voluntarily. If you want to opt out and return money received, use only the official opt-out account details shown on the Subhadra portal’s login page. Never deposit money into any other account.
