What Is OSSSC?
OSSSC was set up under the OSSSC (District Cadre) Rules, 2012 and started work on 1 November 2012 in Bhubaneswar. It conducts recruitment exams for district cadre Group-B and Group-C civil posts of Odisha government departments. “District cadre” means you are posted and transferred within the district (or range) you are selected for.

The biggest recruitment of this cycle is the Combined Recruitment Examination-2025 (CRE-2025). It began with 3,250 posts, rose to 5,012 by an addendum on 2 March 2026, and was finally revised to 4,881 posts on 7 March 2026 (Balasore district cut its RI, ARI and Amin posts).

OSSSC Eligibility: Age, Qualification and Other Conditions
Each post has its own rules in its advertisement. These are the rules from the two latest advertisements:

Upper age relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST and SEBC; 5 years for women (except ICDS Supervisor, a women-only post); 10 years for Persons with Disabilities; and Ex-Servicemen as per the advertisement. Only the single most useful relaxation applies, but PwD candidates of SC/ST/SEBC get their 10 years on top.
Every post also needs:
- Indian citizenship and good character.
- Ability to read, write and speak Odia, with Odia passed as a language subject at Class VII/ME level or above, or Matriculation in Odia medium, or the Odia test of the School & Mass Education Department.
- Date of birth as recorded in your HSC (Class 10) certificate; no other proof is accepted.
Documents to Keep Ready
- Recent colour passport photo, jpg/jpeg/png, 20–100 KB.
- Full signature, jpg/jpeg/png, 20–50 KB.
- Your own mobile number and e-mail ID, valid till the recruitment ends.
- Certificates and mark sheets, for filling in qualification details.
- Junior Assistant only: Employment Exchange registration of your district (plus Resident Certificate if registered in a State/Special Exchange).

How to Apply for OSSSC Recruitment Online
OSSSC takes applications only online at osssc.gov.in. When the next advertisement opens:
- Read the full advertisement for your post on the OSSSC website.
- New user: click “Apply Online” and register. Registered earlier? Log in and choose “Re-registration” in the Applicant Menu.
- Log in and fill the online application form; registration alone is not an application. Upload your photo and signature and choose your district preferences.
- Pay the ₹500 examination fee by Net Banking, card or UPI. SC, ST and PwD candidates pay nothing.
- Submit and print the Confirmation Page.
Good to know: under Odisha’s 2025 recruitment fee and refund rules, OSSSC refunds the ₹500 fee to candidates who actually appear in the exam, to the account used for payment. If no Confirmation Page appears after payment, the transaction is cancelled and refunded within 48 hours, and you must pay again.
OSSSC Selection Process
Stages depend on the post. CRE-2025 has two exam stages and then document verification:

Radiographer-2026 has one 100-mark written test (DMRT subjects 60, practical skills 25, arithmetic 10, English 5). Forester, Forest Guard and Excise Constable have a written test followed by a Physical Test. Multi-shift computer-based exams use normalised scores.
OSSSC Admit Card, Answer Key and Result
- Admit card: online only. Log in at osssc.gov.in and use “Download Admission Letter” in the Applicant Menu. Nothing is sent by post.
- Answer keys: on your candidate home page after login; objections are accepted only online, within the notice period.
- Results: published as PDF notices under “Results” and “Notifications”. There is no re-evaluation.
Radiographer-2026: as of 26 October 2026 the admission letter for the 15 November exam is not out yet; OSSSC says it will be uploaded “in due course”.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong commission: Police Constable and SI posts are with OUSSSC, not OSSSC.
- Stopping after registration: you must submit the form and get the Confirmation Page.
- Someone else’s mobile, e-mail or bank account: alerts go to that mobile/e-mail and the fee refund goes to that account.
- Date of birth mismatch: only your HSC certificate date counts.
- Wrong district for Junior Assistant: it cannot be changed after submission.
