Application Mode:Apply again on e-District under OBC Certificate with fresh income proof
Estimated Timeline:15 working days (legal time limit)
Required Documents (Summary):Fresh income proof
Prescribed Fees:Standard government statutory fee (or free as prescribed)
There is no fixed period for which an OBC certificate is valid. The Government of India (DoPT, 2003) says your caste status rarely changes, but your non-creamy layer status can change every year, so most notices ask for a recent certificate.
What to do:
Read the exam, admission or job notice for the date your OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued after.
If your certificate is older, apply again on e-District Odisha under “OBC Certificate” with fresh income proof.
Track it with your Application Reference Number and download the new e-certificate.
Fill any undertaking the notice asks for. JoSAA 2026, for example, asked for income within limits for the year ending 31 March 2026.
Apply early: the legal time limit is 15 working days, but approvals often take longer.
