Junior Teachers and the 45,000-Post Announcement
The last Junior Teacher (Schematic) recruitment on OSEPA’s website is from 2023. On 1 October 2026, the S&ME Department regularised the 2023-24 Junior Teachers still in service as Assistant Teachers (Level-V(A)) from 1 January 2026.
Note: On Teachers’ Day (5 September 2026), Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that 45,000 school teaching vacancies will be filled over three years, news reports said. No official advertisement has followed as of 27 October 2026, so ignore websites quoting exact counts or dates for a new Junior Teacher recruitment.

OAVS does not accept Special B.Ed or D.Ed, and does not round off marks (49.99% is less than 50%).
OTET and OSSTET: Which Teacher Eligibility Test You Need
Both state teacher eligibility tests are conducted by BSE Odisha. A TET pass is not a job, but most teaching posts require it.
OTET (Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test)
- OTET is for teaching Classes I to VIII in Government, aided and private schools in Odisha.
- Paper-I is based on the Class I–V syllabus and Paper-II on Class VI–VIII. Each has 150 MCQs in 2½ hours, with no negative marking.
- Pass mark: 60% (50% for SC, ST, SEBC and Physically Handicapped).
- For private unaided schools, CTET is an accepted option.
- Typical qualifications: Higher Secondary (50%) with a 2-year D.El.Ed, or Graduation (50%) with B.Ed; 5% relaxation for SC, ST, SEBC and PwD. Final-year trainees can appear.
OSSTET (Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test)
OSSTET is the eligibility test for secondary school teachers. The OAVS 2026 advertisement, for example, requires every TGT applicant to have passed OSSTET, OTET Paper-II or CTET Paper-II.
OSSTET-2026 was held on 30 September 2026. Answer keys came out on 10 October and challenges (₹500 per response, refunded if accepted) closed on 17 October 2026. The result had not been published as of 27 October 2026.

How to Apply Online for OAVS Teacher Recruitment 2026
- Open the OAVS recruitment page and read the detailed modalities and your post’s document.
- Click the online application link, tick “I Agree” and press “Start”.
- Sign up with your email ID and mobile number; login details are sent to them.
- Log in and fill in your personal details, qualifications (exact percentages), TET details and category.
- Upload your photo and signature (JPG, up to 100 KB each).
- Pay the non-refundable fee through SBI e-Pay: ₹1,500 (UR/SEBC) or ₹1,000 (SC/ST/PwD) for teaching posts; ₹2,000 or ₹1,250 for Principal, plus bank charges.
- Submit before 5:00 PM on 11 November 2026 and save the printout and fee receipt.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern
OAVS (TGT, PGT, PET and others)
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 200 MCQs in 200 minutes, 1 mark each, 0.25 negative marking.
- Part-I (qualifying): 20 English + 20 Odia questions; you need at least 5 in each and 13 in total.
- Part-II: 30 questions on Current Affairs and 30 on Reasoning.
- Part-III: 100 questions on subject and methodology.
- Interview of 40 marks. Final merit: test (Parts II–III) 70%, interview 30%.
Principal: 180 questions in 180 minutes, then a 60-mark interview.
OPSC Lecturer posts
The OPSC Lecturer exam has a subjective written test (100-mark General English and GK paper plus two 200-mark subject papers) and a 50-mark viva voce.
Admit Card and Result
- OAVS: The E-Admit Card is emailed and can be downloaded from oav.edu.in with your registration number and password. Carry a printout and an original photo ID.
