Why the SI exam moved to OUSSSC

The SI-level exam (CPSE-2024) was first advertised by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) on 17 January 2025 (Advertisement No. 02-CPSE-2024/OPRB). Its written exam, planned for 5–6 October 2025, was postponed (as reported in the news). On 26 May 2026, the Home Department entrusted OUSSSC with conducting CPSE-2024, and OPRB handed over all candidates’ data to the Commission.

Every CPSE-2024 applicant must now revalidate their details online, using the questionnaire for “Normal Candidates” (applied under the January 2025 advertisement) or “Age Relaxation Candidates” (applied under the 31 July 2025 corrigendum). The data you confirm is final for all later stages.

Important: If you applied for the SI exam in 2025, complete the revalidation before 29 October 2026, 10:00 PM. OUSSSC has said no separate individual message will be sent, so check the website yourself.

At every level you must be an Indian citizen who can speak, read and write Odia. Proof is usually an M.E. School (or higher) pass with Odia as a subject, a Class 10 pass with Odia as the medium in a non-language subject, or a pass in the BSE Odisha Odia test of M.E. School standard.

Age Limit and Physical Standards

Age

  • SI level (CPSE-2024): 21 to 25 years as on 1 January 2024, with 5 years’ relaxation for SC, ST, SEBC and women. After a High Court order, the Government granted 3 more years to all categories, so the upper limit became 28 years for UR and 33 years for SEBC/SC/ST/women (corrigendum dated 31 July 2025).
  • Constable level (2026): the minimum age is 18; the upper limit varies by post, from 23 to 32 years as on 1 January 2026. See the post-wise table.
  • Your date of birth is taken from your Class 10 certificate.

For Constable-level posts, men need the same height, but women need 158 cm (UR/SEBC) or 153 cm (SC/ST).

Documents and How to Apply

Applications are online only; nothing is sent by post. For the Constable drive you register once on the OUSSSC website, get a registration number, fill the form and pay the fee. For CPSE-2024 there are no new applications; existing applicants only revalidate.

Keep scanned copies of these ready (the exact list is in each advertisement):

  • Recent colour passport photo, signature and thumb impression
  • Class 10 certificate (proof of date of birth)
  • +2, diploma or degree certificate, as the post requires
  • Caste certificate for SC, ST or SEBC (an OBC certificate is not accepted in place of SEBC). Need one? See our Odisha caste certificate guide
  • Odia language pass certificate
  • Aadhaar card
  • NCC certificate, ex-servicemen papers or Sports ID card, if you are claiming them
  • Driving licence for driver posts

Our tip: Fill your name, date of birth and parents’ names exactly as in your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch is a common reason for trouble at document verification.

Selection Stages

Both levels follow a similar path:

  1. Written exam (MCQs, 0.25 negative marking). CPSE-2024 has Paper I, General English and Odia (100 marks), and Paper II, General Studies (200 marks), plus a technical paper for Station Officer. The Constable exam is a 100-mark computer-based test.
  2. Physical measurement and physical efficiency test (PET), qualifying only. For CPSE-2024, seven times the vacancies are called, and SI candidates must run 1.6 km in 8 minutes (men) or 10 minutes (women).
  3. Document verification of original certificates.
  4. Merit list based on written marks plus NCC weightage (CPSE-2024: 1 mark for NCC ‘B’, 2 marks for NCC ‘C’). There is no interview, and no reserve or waiting list.

Admit Card, Exam and Physical Test

Admit cards are issued online only, never by post. As of 25 October 2026, the OUSSSC admit card page says they will be uploaded in due course; the Constable advertisement says about a week before the written exam. Download and print yours from ousssc.odisha.gov.in and carry it with your original photo ID. Those who clear the written exam get a separate admit card for the physical test.

Result and Joining

Results appear on the OUSSSC website under “Results” (as of 25 October 2026 it says they will be published once the exams are completed). Candidates are selected category-wise by merit and by the post preferences given in the form.

Before appointment, your character and antecedents are verified, you submit a medical fitness certificate from an authorised Government doctor, and your original certificates are checked.
